Unfortunately, Safari only detects URLs that start with "http://" or "https://". This is the reason why Safari does not show any options in the context menu for the text "apple.com". Whenever URLs deviate from the specification, Safari has problems detecting them (for example, if they contain whitespaces, typos, or incorrect schemes). URL Detector fixes this problem by showing Safaris missing options even for hard-to-detect URLs.
